Updated: Sep 23, 2023

FAREWELL PRAGUE • HELLO VIENNA

BUT BEFORE WE GO...

Since our drive to Vienna would only be 3 hours, we had a little time to spend before checking out the hotel and hitting the road. First off, Jimi had not yet made an appearance in Prague, so a special trip to the bridge was called for. Knowing that there would be some golden light, this also roused me out of bed earlier than usual to see if anything special might be waiting. It was so peaceful on the Charles Bridge at this hour. Just a handful of early rising tourists, a few joggers, but no souvenir venders. It was cool but pleasant and a really nice way to enjoy the bridge. Getting older bonus; it's so much easier to get up early. In my 30s, there's no way I'm waking up for a couple photos ;-).

ST. NICOLAS CHURCH

After a leisurely breakfast, Yvette and I headed up the street to visit the St. Nicolas church. It's in the baroque style, not one of these tremendously huge gothic cathedrals. Unassuming on the outside but quite spectacular within.

AND OFF WE GO...

I admit it, we listened to Vienna by Billy Joel on our way to Vienna. Something about that tune has always resonated with me. There is really isn't much to report on the drive from Prague to Austria. I should mention that the Czech Republic landscape is beautiful.

Once again, Yvette found a really good location for our hotel, We could look at the well known Vienna Opera House from our balcony, and there is a lot going on right in the area. Watch out for the bikes though, and I repeat, respect the bikes lanes.
