EUROPE & DC '23 • Day 1: Washington DC

TRAVEL DAY
We arrived in DC today to continue our recent family tradition of celebrating Thanksgiving on some arbitrary fall date (though I guess we aren't technically in fall yet). It's difficult for Sarah, Danielle & Nick to fly out here on a busy and expensive travel week, and then travel again a month after for Christmas & New Year's. So, we try and do it early, usually in October like the Canadians. With Sarah moving to Oxford for grad school at the end of September, we moved our Thanksgiving dinner up so we can end our trip in the UK.
Flying United from SFO to Dulles in DC. One nice thing about having the good Amex card is access to the Centurion Lounge (see Bloody Mary above! Just waiting for boarding now and looking forward to a few hours of uninterrupted reading! Finishing up a reread of the 3rd Dune novel, and half way through Anna Karenina.
A little bonus photo after take-off. We flew over my old high school; El Camino in South San Francisco. Lots of memories looking at the campus from above. All that time spent on the Little Theater stage and band room with the Marrs. Swim lessons in the pool when I was younger. Etc. Etc. Etc.
