Chile '25 • Day 3: Santiago to Puerto Varas

SOUTHWARD AGAIN!

AND BEFORE WE GO

Took a walk around the neighborhood in the morning in search of a good coffee as the hotel cappuccino was a bit lacking in the coffee department. It was more like a warm milk with a hint of coffee flavor.

This trip has too much moving around for my taste, but Chile is a really long country and it seems unavoidable if you want to see a bit of everything from city to nature. Even in almost a 3 week trip there was no time for the desert region north of Santiago, or the penguins at the tip of the continent. So back on the plane today and south we go.

PUERTO VARAS

Another travel day as we make our way south toward Patagonia. A short flight from Santiago to Port Montt and then a short drive to Puerto Varas to explore this Volcano region. Weather looks like it will cooperate while we’re here.

The Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes are literally in front of us across Llianquihue Lake as we relax in our hotel living room. Wow, what a view!

Word for the day: Chorritos, the Chilean word for mussels. Tough for Yvette and Maribel to remember because in Panama it’s mejillones. We only had to ask our waitress 5 or 6 times!
